SPANISH WOMAN ARRESTED FOR MARRYING THREE NIGERIAN MEN.
A 40 year old Spanish woman was arrested in Madrid, Spain for being married to three
Nigerians who she had charged 3,000 pounds each so they could get Spanish nationality.
The investigation began when police discovered irregularities in the request for residency
permit from a Nigerian man.
He had married a Spanish woman and included the marriage certificate in the application submitted.
However, the woman was registered as having married two other Nigerian men in other parts
of Madrid in 2007 and 2008.
UNITED STATES BASED DOCTOR ASSASSINATED IN NIGERIA.
A United States-based financial expert, Dr. Ogbo Edoga, was shot dead by gunmen in his
hometown, Aku, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State. The deceased was a financial
economist, who returned to attend the meeting of Nsukka USA, an organization of Nsukka
professionals in the United States to raise fund for the construction of an ultra-modern
medical diagnostic centre in Ede-Oballa.
According to reports, the victim was trailed to the house of a kinsman by a five-man gang on
motorcycles, who accosted him and shot him at close range. He died on the way to the
hospital. The bandits were reported to have escaped in a car belonging to a senior officer of the
State Security Service (SSS), who was with the deceased at the time of the incident. The
incident has thrown the Aku community into pandemonium, disrupting programmes lined up by
the villagers, notably the reception organized for indigenous priests and the dedication of a new
building by the twin brother of the deceased.
An eyewitness said the gunmen shouted at the deceased, “where is the money?” before
opening fire. He reportedly pleaded with them to spare his life but they shot him with an AK47
rifle. Meanwhile, the Police Area Commander, Ros-Amson Halladu, confirmed the incident,
describing it as hired killing. He also advised returnees to apply for police protection.
A NIGERIAN IMMIGRANT WAS GRANTED GREEN CARD BY PRESIDENT OBAMA.
Victor Chukwueke, who lives in Michigan on an expired visa, came to the United States 11 years
ago to undergo treatment for massive face tumors. He graduated from a university in the
United State, and plans to attend an Ohio medical school that requires him to have permanent
residency, also known as a green card.
In a rare act, the United States Congress passed a private bill this month granting him
permanent residency. Obama signed the bill. A private bill-which applies to only one person at a given time and
focuses on immigration is rarely approved. His is the only one to pass in Congress in
two years.
“I was overwhelmed with joy; it was nothing less than a miracle,” the 26-year-old said. “Only in
this country can so many miraculous and wonderful things happen to someone like me”
Before coming to the United States at age 15, Chukwueke lived in the Southeastern Nigeria
town of Ovim. He suffered from Neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes massive life-
threatening tumors on his face. Treated as an outcast because of his deformed face, he was
depressed and humiliated, he said. His family abandoned him at an orphanage after taking
him to the nation’s best facilities for treatment.
